September 12- We finally got a day of fishing in and actually caught fish this time. Been a real slow year, fish and fishing wise, but yesterday was OK. Bud caught a pike and a bass, I got 2 bass on board, nothing big, but better then we've done. We had a few on line that never made it into the boat, but we got to see them so we count them as caught. Christopher came with us and fished for a bit, but not being old and/or obsessed his interested faded in and out, towards the end of the day he got his second wind fishing wise but mechanical failures brought that to a screeching halt. Our best spot in Whidden pond was where I caught the boot, while back I actually caught and dragged in a boot, just like the old fishing cartoon. Fairly shallow area, bit weedy which is where all the books tell us to go. This may be our last time out this year. I'm moving soon (just a few miles away from Whidden so between packing and "adjusting" we'll just have to see what happens.

August 6-7- We haven't been getting much fishing in this season, conflicting schedules and weather haven't helped. Plus my family and I hope to be moving so been house hunting, house selling blah blah blah. However I did go down to my In-Laws campsite in Carver MA (Ellis Haven) mostly to relax but they have a few ponds that are supposed to have serious fish, man made ponds, stocked, catch and release. So I went down to give it a whack and when I arrived there were a ton of children leaning over the dock, well actually some type of floating platform, and they had hot dogs on hooks and were pulling in sunfish like crazy, they could see the fish and were able to guide their baits to the fish and yank them up. Not being a big fan of sunfish, and not having any hot dogs on me, I took the chance of tossing out our favorite green worm and within the space of about an hour and half pulled in 4 bass, 3 small ones, bout 2 lbs maybe but one pretty decent size One, needless the say the kids thought I was amazing (ah the innocence of youth). So the next morning I woke up bright and early and went to the docks and pulled in a bunch of decent size fish, probably about 7 all tolled. I figure it was probably only about 4 fish, that I kept catching. They were a little beat up but still fought and they still count.

July 2- Went to Webster Lake for our first visit, and it could have been great, except for a few minor glitches. First off when we got there the parking at the boat ramp was maxed out. There wasn't a spot to put a bike it was so jammed, and it wasn't all that late either we got there around 7ish. So we cruised around and found a little, apparently seldom used drop off and set sail (?) from there. For some reason which I didn't think of till late that night we didn't spend a lot of time on the edges which is where "THEY" say you should fish, we did a lot of open water and we threw everything we could think of, spinners, worms, shiners (yep we're giving shiners another try) and other then one hit which we can't count since we never even saw the fish, we got nothing. We're trying to figure what we're doing different, could it be the boat? Or as Bud puts it "Maybe we suck"? Not sure either way but it was still a good day out on the water, and the boat insertion/extraction is getting smoother and smoother every time.

June 26- Another day on the Grammy. Did the Billingsley Sea routine, and we caught one bass, well it never actually was on the boat but we're counting it as a catch. Usually we fish the edges which we did quite a bit but no luck so for the hell of it we hit the open water and starting casting at random and that's where we got the hit. Go figure?

June 23- Saltwater fishing this evening with Harry and Big Paul. Bud snagged a few stripers - schoolies, and I grabbed a few skates, nasty looking little buggers. We were assigned the jobs of Anchor Bitch and Scumbucket Boy, but it was a great night out on the water.

June 20- Yet another day at Weymouth, and of course yet another day with no fish. HOWEVER we have the boat in the water and inserted and extracted without a problem. Really gotta go somewhere other then Weymouth though, was great last year but haven't seen a fish outta there in some time now.

June 5 - Went off to Billingsley Sea in Plymouth for a few hours, did the wading routine, but the boat should be ready soon. It was a great day of fishing, we had hoped for a great day of catching, which we didn't do any of, but its still nice to be out there.

May 30- Fishing season has officially begun, least wise for us. Sure we've fished a few times up till now, but Today? well today we caught fish, not one or two, but FISH, over a dozen between the two of us. After the last few outings we've had its a mountain of fish. We did the Ft. Deven / Waders gig which has never let us down. The bottom was "Mushier" then last year, but it was nice to be able to cast and pull back some bass. At one point even called the place I wanted to cast to, was able to cast directly to the spot and pulled home a fishy. Life is good. On a more comical, yet tragic side, did a day trip to Captain John in Plymouth (idiot fishing) and counting what we caught added to what the rest of the entire boat caught, the fish count was 2 (Yep TWO) all day long only two fish. But it was nice to be out on the water and had some laughs.

Not Yet- Ok so its still snowing, a few days before St. Patty's Day, the parade not the "day". Still haven't hit the water, but rumor has it that the thaw is on. We've stocked up on supplies and hope to be hitting soon, probably wading. The rod building gig is coming up slow but sure. Let me rephrase that, I'm just getting started but Bud is cruising, got a few built, his set up has all the gear and he's busy busy.

April 17 - Well we tried, actually tried 2 or 3 hours of freezing cold water, supposed to be in the 70s but the breeze sure as hell didn't know. Didn't catch nothing, didn't see nothing, but better days are coming.

Getting ready for an N.A.F.C meet at Webster Lake near Connecticut around May 1st. Meet a bunch of guys that I email and chat with regular. Could be embarrassing, hope they ain't "real fishermen", well at least we can learn from them?
